ENDOTRACJ SYSTEM PRODUCT UPDATE

Your EndotracJ System for Endoscopic Plantar Fasciotomy now includes an internally marked cannula to aid the surgeon in performing medial band releases. The cannula has been marked on the inner walls to allow endoscopic visualization of a 13.5 mm measurement as the surgeon incises. The first two marks are 9 mm and 11 mm from the base of the cannula which should be flush against the skin once inserted. This should generally be the location of the medial investment of the plantar fascia. From the center of these two marks a single mark has been made 13.5 mm (average width of the medial band ) towards the center of the cannula.

This is a general guide which can be used by a surgeon by incising medial to lateral, starting the incision at the medial investment between the 9 mm and 11 mm marks and stopping the incision at the single mark which is 13.5 mm distal to the center of the initial two marks. If the surgeon prefers, the incising can be performed in the opposite direction using the single mark as a guide for beginning the incision.

These markings have proven to be extremely effective as a guide to surgeons, especially during initial cases performed, but again are intended to be used only as a guide in performing a medial band release.
